Sunday Reflection

 

Family of Christ,

 

As a follower of Christ, the pursuit didn’t start with you chasing God but instead

it started with God choosing you. Many tend to forget that pursuing in God is

more than simply believing in Him but in fact it is intentionally seeking him,

drawing closer to him, desiring his presence and aligning your life with His will. In Ephesians 1:3-6 it speaks heavily about the foundation of the pursuit and how it started with God. Not only did God pursue you in the beginning but he continuously pursues you despite your short comings, past and oftentimes lack of zeal. 

 

       As children mature, especially while entering teenage years, there comes a time when they no longer have the same excitement for things they once enjoyed. In many cases this focuses on spending as much time with their parents as they once enjoyed. As their focus shifts and they begin pursuing different interest and hobbies that may not always be aligned with their parents advice, it doesn’t alter the love a parent has for their child even in the midst of finding their own way or better yet, themselves. A parent will still pursue the love of their child and continue to be their foundation even when their interests differ or time seems more consumed with their friends or electronics until they begin to remember the importance of family. God has a way of doing the exact same thing as your Heavenly Father. When you lose focus and zeal for Him, He still pursues you the same way He did in the beginning, when you deviate from His plan, He still pursues you because He knows as His child, His love will be forever more and He trusts you’ll regain your pursuit for him. 

 

        Brothers and sisters don’t waste so much time attempting to escape your pursuit that you miss out on valuable time with God. He’s calling you to higher ground and is waiting for you to focus back on His will. It’s not you who chose God but Him who chose you and knew you before you were even created. He had full understanding of your strengths and weaknesses and still loves you and saw something great enough in you to seek after you to grant you eternal peace with Him. So stop waiting for God to prove that you’re chosen and begin walking in the anointing that demonstrates you in fact know you were chosen. Allow your life to exemplify a response to the love he’s granted you within His pursuit.

As God is always reaching out in pursuit of a relationship with you, will you

follow and obey the calling? The main thought is who pursued who first.

The answer to that is that God pursued you first. God pursued you through

redemption, adoption, faith, and love. God is great.  With every believer, the

pursuit began with God, for he chose us. There’s an importance in living a

holy and blameless life. 

 

God chose us, meaning we will live a holy and blameless life, which God laid out for us. God’s plan for salvation was made before we were even born. God chases after you, and gives keys and messages so you will follow his calling on you. He chose us from the foundation of our creation, meaning he picked us from the beginning. God’s pursuit is continuous, which means even when you mess up, God keeps chasing after you and pursuing you and a relationship with you. You need to watch what you do, because God will continue to pursue you. When you feel uncomfortable where you are, that’s because of God‘s pursuit. When you stop doing certain things, you won’t be uncomfortable. 

 

God is always seeking a relationship with us and when we hide from God, he still pursues us. God‘s pursuit shows His everlasting love and reminds us that we can’t run from God. God still chases us no matter how many times we sin, even with Adam and Eve‘s disobedience, God still sought after them. Even if we run or hide from God, He will still pursue us, because God is always seeking a relationship with us. 

 

God‘s pursuit is relentless. God pursues us by being our Shepherd, our peace, healer of our bodies, providing us peace, being near us no matter where we are, God being all sufficient, and God seeing us no matter where we are, even if we shouldn’t be there. God will stay in pursuit of you, so will you keep trying to run or will you be open to God's pursuit, and will you pursue God also?
