Dear Friends,

Growing up, most of us were fully aware of the consequences

of disobeying our parents. For some, it may have resulted in a

whirlwind of trouble that could’ve been prevented and for

others it might have led to picking your own switch off a tree. Whichever outcome that followed was always a fate you were terrified to meet or even had flashbacks just thinking about the possibilities to come. Have you ever questioned why it’s so difficult for children of God to have this same fear of disobeying Him?

Too often believers turn a blind eye to following the instructions of our Heavenly Father and obeying Him.  However, they wouldn’t think twice about disobeying their earthly parents. Why is this? In John 21:1-14 God demonstrates to us if we obey Him, He will supply more than enough fish. There’s nothing we can ask of Him that we shall not receive when we follow His commandments and put Him first. When you do what Christ has asked of you, He will bless you abundantly. With this said, keep in mind this doesn’t mean you should follow Him solely with the expectancy of a grand reward, but follow Him because your main interest is to please God. In our scripture, Jesus supplied a great catch and a meal already prepared; all the disciples had to do was believe and follow His instructions.

As followers of Christ, we all have work that is required of us. There’s no room for procrastination, disobedience or abandoning our purpose. God has never quit on us, and He continually proves that He will be there with us through all circumstances. Despite Peter denying Christ three times, Jesus still called to him. Instead of abandoning Peter, He reminded him of His unconditional love for him and encouraged him to love and serve Him. So, allow me to remind you that God has called us to be fishers of men. Our work in the kingdom of God awaits us and God is anxious to give us direction for our lives. When you find yourself looking down and feeling low, take this one verse with you, “no good thing will he uphold from those who walk upright.”   Remember, after Jesus rose, He immediately continued His work on earth.  Let this therefore be your daily reminder that when you Rise, God has work for you.
